about

Taylor Friesth is a Colorado-native producer, drummer, author, and educator whose career has been shaped by a lifelong dedication to creativity and innovation. As a drummer, his versatility led him to perform with artists such as GRiZ, Illenium, and other genre-spanning acts—experiences that helped form his musical foundation long before launching his producer project. He is also the author of The Sly Hat, an influential drum-education book focused on advanced hi-hat technique, and the founder of GrooveMPL, which he built after spending time in Nashville to help musicians record drums from home and run professional live playback systems in Ableton Live.

TJF is Taylor’s producer project, where he steps fully into a live-looping, multi-instrumentalist role—building songs in real time through drums, synths, and layered textures. Drawing from his background as a touring and session drummer, TJF blends technical precision with expressive, improvisational performance, treating production tools as instruments themselves. The project represents a natural evolution of Taylor’s career, merging his performance history, production skills, and forward-thinking approach into a singular, immersive live experience.
